Summary: Dragons are all cool, but what about the other mythological beasts? Surely, there's a monster that can fly and rain mayhem down upon its enemies that isn't just a winged reptile? Oh, what's that? There's a bird-lion in the books? Sounds great...or not.

History: In a land ravaged by civil war, two kingdoms are about to receive a painful reminder as to why they should spend more time mending bridges than burning them. For an evil sorcerer named Armand was called upon out of desperation by one of kingdoms to save their asses from losing. So, he brought to life the statue of a large gryphon...that ended up following only his commands. And as it turns out, Armand was kind of a knob, and sought to use the gryphon to take both kingdoms out. If the beast isn't killed before the next solar eclipse, both it and Armand will live forever.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After our heroes from both kingdoms put aside their differences and assemble the Draconian Pike, the gryphon is run through with it, killing both it and Armand (rather violently, in his case). The civil war is declared officially over.

Powers/Abilities: Cannot be killed by conventional weaponry.

Weakness: Draconian weaponry, such as dragon fire and the fabled Draconian Pike. Also, if Armand were to somehow die, so too would it.

Scariness Factor: 2-Even by Syfy standards, this gryphon is the pits in terms of effects. Would it have killed them to try and make this thing just a LITTLE bit more refined or something? A damn shame too, considering how much damage it did.

Trivia: -The gryphon myth goes as far as ancient Egyptian mythology, and has found multiple interpretations across the world. One example is in Iran, where it is referred to as the Shirdal. In heraldry, the gryphon (or griffin) is a symbol of valor and justice.

-It is possible that the gryphon was inspired in some places by the remains of beaked dinosaurs, particularly Protoceratops.
